However, if you eliminate the illogical, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. [Saturday

Oh, emo-ness. Do not judge me. [Sunday

'In the Heights' closes today. That makes me infinitely sadder than I ever thought it would or could. It's just a show, right? Well, wrong. It's a show that ended up meaning so much to me and so many other people. So yes, I am very bummed over it's closing and knowing that, very likely, I will never again get to see it performed on stage. I'll miss the energy, the jokes, the truth behind the lyrics and actions.

'Next to Normal' is also closing soon. And I'll be there for the final night (WITH MAH LIZZEH). This is another show that means so much to me. From the very first time I saw it, I knew that it was 'my' show. Really, it's not an easy show to sit through either. Yes, it has its lighter moments, but the show hits you hard. Whether you have someone in your family with a mental illness or not. It's the depiction of a family struggle, and really, so very few people have not going through something like that in their life. I'm grateful I've been able to see it as many times as I have. From seeing it the first time (with two main understudies, no less, so it was more about the show than the actors at that point), to seeing it with Brian d'Arcy James (which brought it around full-circle for me, since he was my first Dan), to seeing it with the new cast, and seeing it again with them when they were totally on FIRE.

Being there next week is something I'm both looking forward to and dreading. Because once the cast takes their bows and exits the stage...that's it. Because, you know, the closest the tour wants to come is freakin' Missouri. So yes. Thanks to the friends who introduced me to this show, to the friends who realized that when we went to NYC, it was the only show I was stalwartly set on seeing (and would not budge on). And thanks to those who stood in the ItH lotto with me, and allowed me to convince them to buy lotto loser's seats (hehehe).

We are back in Boston after a five hour bus ride and a helluva day in New York City.

We saw Next to Normal. It was amazing. Also? Brian d'Arcy James recognized me at stage door. On his own. Without any prompting. It.Was.Awesome. Anyway. I am past the point of exhaustion, so I might take a look at this when I wake up and go "WTF WAS I TYPING???"

Random post is random, but I keep thinking about this. And do think that it is a good thing to be thinking about.

As most of you know, my dad is career Army. He's been on about four or five tours in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, all of varying lengths. He got home just last month after a six month stint in Kuwait. Things over there are much better than they were a few years ago, in the scheme of getting things settled for the soldiers and getting them the things they need. However, they still need (and very much appreciate) getting packages of necessities and extras from the states. And some of these soldiers don't really have anyone sending things over. It really is such a good way to lift the spirits of the soldiers, getting a package.

I'm sure you've all seen this stuff before, but trust me, it really is one of the best things you can do for these people, if at all possible. They're thousands of miles from home in a war zone. It's sort of a 'pet project' of mine, if you really want to put a title to it. I'll cut the list (which I totally stole from another site) of suggested items to send, if any of you want to give this a serious thought. You can adopt a soldier from any number of organizations, whether it's the USO or local organizations. Plus, you go to the post office and tell them you need a APO/AE flat rate box. The boxes are free, and they will mail them for like...$12. So get one, stuff it full of stuff, and send it to someone. That's easy enough, right?

LIST BELOW, YO )

And with that, I'm done being all preachy, or whatever. I just felt I should get this out. If it gets even ONE person on my f-page to get a box together and send it, then it's well worth it.

Allow me a moment, if you please, to express how in awe I am of the people who run the Save Our Seeker campaign. They've got ads purchased (donations at work, yo) for several major magazines (online or otherwise) and have various 'flood ABC' campaigns they're working on. Trust me, if any show deserves to get a second chance due to sheer fan dedication, this is it.

PLEASE DON'T CANCEL MY SHOW, SOBS.
